Montiep was the nicely supported 16/1 winner of Limerick's concluding Woodlands House House (Mares) INH Bumper today, scoring for trainer Barry Fitzgerald and jockey Jack Hendrick.

The daughter of Montmartre was unplaced in two runs last season but today backed on track from 33/1 to 16s, made all and fought off the challenge of the Willie Mullins trained newcomer Cnoc Na Si (8/11f) by four and a quarter lengths.

Afterwards Fitzgerald reported “she took a while to come to hand but I always liked her. She wasn't mature enough on her two runs at the start of the year and today she was good and strong and fit.

“Jack gave her a good ride and that's the way she wants to be ridden — she gets keen and worked up in amongst horses and he rode her beautifully.

“She'll probably go for the mares' Graded bumper at the Dublin Racing Festival next, that's the plan.”
