Wide draw for Mozart in sprint

Mozart was made a 12-1 chance in the local morning line odds for the Breeders` Cup Sprint after he was handed an unfavourable outside stall.

Europe`s champion sprinter will start from box 11 of 14 in the traditionally-strongly-run six-furlong contest around two turns at Belmont Park.

But Dayjur raced from stall 14 when beaten only by a fly-jump close home over the same course and distance 11 years ago and trainer Aidan O`Brien was far from despondent at his July Cup and Nunthorpe Stakes winner`s draw.

'I don`t know if it is a good or bad draw,' the Irish trainer said. 'If there is a lot of pace in the race it would not work to his disadvantage. We would always be happy for him to have a lead - but you need a very quick horse to lead him.

'Michael Kinane could either let him sit in or make the running - he will play it by ear.'

Mozart`s odds were not changed by British bookmakers, with William Hill`s 11-2 the best offer.

O`Brien`s pair Galileo and Black Minnaloushe fared better in the allocation of positions in the feature Classic, handed boxes five and three respectively in the 10-furlong event.

But the trainer warned that a long campaign may be about to catch up with dual Derby winner Galileo, who has been on the go since April and will be having his eighth race of the season.

'He seems OK but he has `had a dance every weekend` and turned up at every crossroads,' he said. 'He has had a long, hard season and I hope we have him as well as he can be. We are hoping for a good run.'

Galileo is 4-1 second favourite on the morning line and Black Minnaloushe a 20-1 shot in betting headed by local hope Aptitude at 2-1.

Godolphin`s Sakhee is quoted at 8-1 from stall six in the Classic, which will be his first race on dirt.
