Yaqeen On Course For Guineas Bid Michael Jarvis believes maiden winner Yaqeen merits a place in the Stan James 1000 Guineas on Sunday week. The Green Desert filly is set for a big step up in class after taking a seven-furlong maiden at Newmarket last week on only her second racecourse start.Yaqeen´s two-length win prompted the sponsors to make her an 11-2 chance for Classic glory and Jarvis has been pleased with her progress since that run.'Yaqeen is an intended runner in the 1000 Guineas. She has come out of last week´s race well and seems fine,' he said.'It was only a maiden but I thought she has done it well ? and she was doing it at the right end of the race.'Given an extra furlong, she would have been an even more clear-cut winner. A mile will be to her liking.'Jarvis sent out Ameerat to win the Guineas in 2001 but he is reluctant to compare the two.'The two fillies are quite different. Ameerat was a big filly, almost like a colt. This filly is light,' he told www.newmarketracecourses.co.uk.'I´m certainly not saying she is one of the favourites but she is a filly with potential and warrants taking her place in the line-up.'(C) PA Sport
