Yarmouth rained off

Heavy rain washed away the rest of Yarmouth`s September meeting today.

Waterlogging caused racing to be abandoned yesterday and the remaining two days of the fixture were called off early this morning after another very wet night.

'It`s awful,' said clerk of the course David Henson.

'We had 17.6mm of rain overnight and it is still raining. It is a quagmire out there.

'So we have abandoned racing today and tomorrow. There is no prospect of it improving in time.'

Today`s other scheduled meetings are at Beverley and Goodwood.
