Yeats Odds On To Give O'Brien His First Leger Aidan O'Brien has yet to win the Irish field St. Leger, but in shape of Yeats, the current 1-3 favourite with William Hill, the master of Ballydoyle looks set to put that right at the Curragh tomorrow afternoon. Yeats, was also cut by Hills from 7-1 to 6-1 favourite for the Melbourne Cup following reports from Australia that even if the Ballydoyle runner wins at the Curragh tomorrow, he will not incur a further penalty for the Flemington feature. Racing Victoria's Chief handicapper Greg Carpenter said 'Yeats takes on only moderate opposition at level weights in the Irish St Leger and a win there would not tell us anything we don't already know about him,' The so called moderate opposition includes John Oxx's rapidly improving mare Kastoria, last years Derrinstown Derby trial winner Fracas and this years Yorkshire Gold Cup winner Percussionist. Akarem, Chimes at Midnight, Frank Sonata and The Whistling Teal make up the eight runner field.Tony Kenny, William Hill's Irish spokesman said 'I think it's a bit harsh of Greg Carpenter to call the likes of Kastoria, Percussionist and Fracas moderate, but if you're comparing them Yeats, then he could be right' He continued 'Yeats is possibly the best staying flat horse we've seen for long time and it would be a massive shock if gets turned over at the Curragh tomorrow'William Hill prices - Irish Field St. Leger: 1-3 Yeats, 5-1 Kastoria, 14-1 Fracas, Percussionist, 16-1 The Whistling Teal, 28-1 Frank Sonanta, 33-1 Akarem, 500-1 Chimes at Midnight E/W 1/5 1-2-3
