Amadeus To Hit Winning Note

It is easy to get carried away by all the publicity surrounding the strong Australian raiding party at Royal Ascot this term.

Bentley Biscuit, Miss Andretti, Magnus and last year´s sprint sensation Takeover Target certainly are a formidable team, with the latter´s trainer Joe Janiak proclaiming them the ?four best sprinters in the world´.

While it is true that Janiak´s pride and joy, who won the King´s Stand Stakes at the Royal meeting last year, holds every chance, there is a possibility their presence will see some generous prices about the home team.

Punters can take full advantage of that fact by snapping up the 7-1 available about the Kevin Ryan-trained Amadeus Wolf in the Golden Jubilee Stakes.

Winner of the Group One Middle Park Stakes as a juvenile, connections succumbed to Classic temptation and tried him over a mile in the Guineas.

He was not disgraced behind George Washington but plainly did not stay, prompting Ryan to switch his sights back to sprinting trips.

Amadeus Wolf then took part in all the top events against the older horses, running creditably without quite getting his head in front.

Ryan always maintained his time would come this season however and the promise of his first start suggests he could be right.

Amadeus Wolf´s reappearance in the Group Two Duke Of York Stakes saw him travel well to halfway, before answering every call from Neil Callan to quickly put the race to bed.

Winning distances in sprint races are often tiny, especially at the top level, but Amadeus Wolf´s superiority over his rivals that day saw him come home a length and a quarter clear of the smart Red Clubs.

Back in fifth was Richard Hannon´s Assertive who has since come out to frank the form when running out a comfortable winner of a decent Listed race.

Amadeus Wolf ran in the Golden Jubilee last year and finished fifth, a great effort for a three-year-old but 12 months later he must surely go closer.

At least two of the Australian contenders will be running in the King´s Stand only four days earlier, while Ryan is totally focused on the Golden Jubilee with Amadeus Wolf.

The 7-1 still available with Coral and William Hill is most tempting about a fresh horse and without the Aussie contingent, he would most likely be a couple of points shorter.
