Azamour likely to be upped in trip after St James´ Palace Stakes.

Azamour, placed in both the Irish and English 2,000 Guineas, faces a rematch with his Curragh conqueror Bachelor Duke at Royal Ascot next month before being stepped up in trip later in the season.

Trainer John Oxx yesterday reported 'I still have to discuss things with His Highness (Aga Khan) but I expect the decision will be to run him next in the St James´ Palace Stakes. The plan in my mind is to give him one more try at a Group 1 over a mile but perhaps we should move up to a mile and a quarter after that.'

He added 'he is good at a mile and he might be good at a bit further too, but I think a mile and a half would be stretching him.'

Regarding his defeat to Bachelor Duke at The Curragh, Oxx stated 'we were beaten fair and square but Azamour idled a bit after bursting through and seemed to think he had done enough. He might have maintained the burst a bit longer if the winner had come with him.'
