Barber tips Denman to topple Kauto Paul Barber is quietly confident Denman can lower the colours of Kauto Star in the totesport Gold Cup. Barber is joint-owner of Denman along with famed punter Harry Findlay, who makes no secret of the fact he believes the reigning champion is beatable at Cheltenham, despite his victory there last year. And while Kauto Star is back to being clear favourite with most bookmakers following a late scare on Saturday evening, the respected Barber believes his charge has what it takes to land the blue riband event. "I saw Clive Smith (owner of Kauto Star) yesterday and we shook hands and he said whatever happens we will still be friends, and that is absolutely right," Barber told At The Races. "I´m not going to predict, but of course I´m going to say that Denman is going to win because that is the way I feel inside. "If he can produce (his best), and it is softish ground, I believe he could beat Kauto Star." And while not as bullish as Findlay, Barber conceded: "I think he can win and I think he can win by quite a long way."
