Bell Upbeat On Evie

Red Evie will bid to put a slightly disappointing run at Royal Ascot behind her in top-flight company next month.

Michael Bell´s filly finished seventh behind Ramonti in the Queen Anne last week, after beating that rival and Ascot runner-up Jeremy in the Lockinge Stakes in May.

Red Evie landed her first Group One success when denying the fast-finishing Peeress in an exciting renewal of the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown last September.

She could now run in the fillies-only UAE Equestrian And Racing Federation Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket on July 11 and/or Deauville´s Prix d´Astarte on July 29.

Reflecting on he recent defeat, Bell said: 'She was up against the likes of George Washington and the rest of them at Ascot but she had beaten the other two in the Lockinge.

'She´s next going to run in the Falmouth at Newmarket or the Prix d´Astarte at Deauville ? or both.

'Having won the Lockinge this year I feel she is going to be very competitive when she just takes on her own sex,' he told At The Races.

'I know it was a different day, but the Queen Anne was three seconds quicker than Nannina was in the Windsor Forest, so when she gets back to fillies´ races she should be very competitive.'
