BONES FOR HAYDOCK PREP

Len Lungo unleashes his stable`s Grand National candidate when Dr Bones runs at Haydock tomorrow.

The English Borders trainer runs the ex-Irish eight-year-old, who is making his debut for the yard, in the Haydock TV Handicap Chase.

But Lungo warned today that the soft ground at the Merseyside track would not be in his charge`s favour.

'He hasn`t been in the yard long but his connections tell me that he wants good ground,' he explained.

'But the run should do him good and then we will have a better idea where we go with him. He is coming back from a little injury but he seems like a nice horse.

'He`s also in the Scottish National but he`s been ready for a while and we have tried to run him three or four times but the meetings keep getting abandoned.'

Should Dr Bones make the line-up at Aintree then he is likely to be partnered by Irish jockey Tom Rudd.

'Tom knows the horse well and if he is allowed to come over, then he would be the choice,' said Lungo.

Stablemates Skippers Cleuch and The Bajan Bandit could also take their chances at Aintree`s meeting next week.

'Skippers is in the two-and-a-half mile and three-mile hurdles and The Bajan Bandit will go for the bumper,' Lungo added.

'They are both big, long-striding horses who I am sure would prefer to go round Cheltenham but they could both run if the ground is on the soft side.

'It`s difficult to tell what you do, we had them both fit for Cheltenham last month and now we have had to wind them down and bring them back.'
