Bookmakers remove New Approach from King George betting Jim Bolger's New Approach, a late withdrawl from the Irish Derby last Sunday, has been removed from some bookmakers' ante-post lists for the King George & Queen Elizabeth VI Stakes on July 26, as his participation remains in doubt. VCBet, Bet Direct and Stan James no longer include New Approach in their King George betting, although he remains quoted at prices ranging from 7-2 to 5-1 with other layers. At 1pm on Tuesday New Approach was available to back at 14 to small stakes on Betfair for the King George, for which Duke Of Marmalade is a best-priced 11-8 favourite. Following x-rays on Monday, New Approach's trainer, Jim Bolger, issued a statement about the fitness of the Derby winner and said that the prognosis for a return to the racetrack was good. Bolger said: "Veterinary examination has revealed soreness on the solar surface of New Approach's left hind limb. X-rays of the limb revealed no abnormality and pelvic ultrasonography revealed no abnormality. "However, there is soreness in the gluteal muscle area and he will be box-rested until he is fully sound, when following further ultrasonography he will begin walking exercise." The son of Galileo was pulled out of the Coral-Eclipse on Monday after he was forced to miss Sunday's Irish Derby because of the injury.
