British imports entered for Hong Kong

British imports Snowstorm and Goggles are among the 18 initial entries stage for the Hong Kong Derby at Sha Tin on March 17th.

Snowstorm, the King Edward VII Stakes second, was to have made his debut in the Chinese territory in the Stewards` Cup last weekend.

However, the Brian Kan-trained runner, formerly with Michael Bell, was not declared on veterinary advice for precautionary reasons.

As the grey had been undergoing veterinary treatment, and it was feared that traces of the medication might still be present in the horse`s system on race day.

Goggles ran an eye-catching race when second at Sha Tin last weekend.

Conspicous by their absence were Ivan Allan`s quartet of Aucash, Always Win, Visorhill and Olympic Express.

Although the entries were generated, the Hong Kong Jockey Club maintains that failure to push the right button means that that they were never received.

They can be entered at the second entry stage. Although this is double the cost (56,000 dollars) of the first entry stage.
