Bruges A Champage Possible David Myerscough is considering his unbeaten colt Bruges for the £100,000 Group Two Urban-i Champagne Stakes at Doncaster on September 15.The Marju colt impressed when taking the seven-furlong Listed Golden Fleece Stakes at Leopardstown by two lengths early last month.Myerscough will now opt for the Champagne Stakes or the Juddmonte Beresford Stakes at the Curragh for his exciting prospect.The County Kildare-based handler said: 'The Champagne Stakes is a possibility, although I'm also looking at the Beresford Stakes over a mile at the Curragh later in September.'I'll see how he is closer to the time and make a firm decision.'He seems to act on any ground and he showed a lovely turn of foot last time at Leopardstown.'He seems to be able to be ridden any way. You can do what you like with him ? he's that laid-back ? and he's improving all the time.'We'll know more shortly as to whether he's up to Group Two class but the way he won his Listed race gives me a lot of hope.'He could be a Guineas and then a Derby horse next year but we'll see how he goes in his next couple of races. He races as though he'll get further in time and he has plenty of pace as well.'It's a big step up to a Group Two contest but hopefully he'll be able to make the grade.'(C) PA Sport
