Channon Plans Irish Raid

Mick Channon has targeted the progressive Youmzain at the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh on May 27.

The Sinndar colt improved throughout last season and after beating subsequent Breeders´ Cup Turf hero Red Rocks at York, he chased home the impressive Prix de l´Arc de Triomphe winner Rail Link in the Prix Niel.

He then gained a deserved Group One success in the Preis Von Europa at Cologne before showing he had lost none of his dash by finishing a close third to Vengeance Of Rain in the Sheema Classic in Dubai in March.

'His form speaks for itself and we obviously have high hopes for him. He´s in great order, has done well since coming back from Dubai and Ireland is the next step,' said Channon.

The West Ilsley-handler also has high hopes for Treat, fourth in the 1000 Guineas behind Finsceal Beo at Newmarket.

'It looks as if she´ll be going for the Irish Guineas,' he told the Racing Post.

'She´ll have had a nice gap between Newmarket and The Curragh and I do think she´s got the speed for a mile.'
