Corner and Bandari continue build-up

Punters were warned not to ignore Fight Your Corner as Mark Johnston`s two Vodafone Derby hopes continued their build-up to Epsom with a work-out today.

Bandari is the shorter-priced of the pair, who were both put through their paces in Middleham this morning, at a general 5-1 after his victory in the Lingfield Derby Trial.

But the trainer`s assistant Bobby Elliott believes that 10-1 shot Fight Your Corner`s ability to handle soft ground could make the Chester Vase winner the one to be on a week on Saturday.

'If there is a bit of cut in the ground Fight Your Corner could be the one as he has shown he handles it,' he said.

'They both worked nicely this morning. I rode Bandari and Joe Fanning was on Fight Your Corner.

'We didn`t put them up to it to seriously as we didn`t want them to do too much but we just wanted to keep them on track for the Derby.'

Bandari and Fight Your Corner have both been bought privately since their most recent outings and each is set to be supplemented to the Derby at a cost of Stg£90,000 on Saturday.

Kevin Darley partners Fight Your Corner, who was bought by Sheikh Mohammed on behalf of his son Sheikh Hamdan while Richard Hills will be aboard Bandari for Hamdan Al Maktoum.
