Crowd Boost For Ascot Executive Following two days of disappointing crowd numbers, the smile was back on the face of the Ascot executives with Gold Cup attendance well up on 2006.Twelve months ago 72,947 racegoers piled into the course for the third day of the meeting, while this year´s attendance stood at 74,172.Head of public relations Nick Smith said: 'Today was a very pleasing Gold Cup day crowd and people seemed to have enjoyed themselves, which is excellent news given this is the first sell out in the main enclosures this week.'The new plaza layout and the old paddock bars in the General Admission and the Silver Ring generally coped extremely well with their first huge crowd, in spite of the weather.'
