Curtain Call likely to go straight to Epsom

Luca Cumanin has indicated that his Curtain Call, second favourite for the Vodafone Derby, is likely to head straight to Epsom after the trainer decided to abandon an outing in Lingfield´s trial on Saturday.

Cumani, who had voiced his concerns over the fast ground at the Surrey course to the Racing Post a few hours after declarations on Thursday, elected instead to give the Sadler´s Wells colt a gallop on the Limekilns under Jamie Spencer on Saturday morning.

Cumani said: ?I sent my assistant to walk the course at Lingfield on Friday night, and checked the times of races yesterday, and decided not to run him.

"We will go to Plan B and it is very likely he will go straight to Epsom. I have not really had time to think it over and I had to reorganise this morning and let him gallop. We will think it through in the next few days.?

One of the part-owners, Tattersalls´ marketing director Jimmy George, was present to see the work on the long gallop alongside Cumani and the Derby hope did all that asked in a workout over 1m with Bankable and one other, as he quickened up to take control in the spin.

Cumani, whose colt is a general 6-1 shot for the Derby on June 7, added: ?I was pleased with Curtain Call. A racecourse gallop could be a possibility but I really haven´t had time to think about it. We´ll see.?
