DARLEY BOOKED FOR KINGSCLERE Kingsclere will attempt to redeem his reputation in the Charlton Group July Trophy Stakes at Haydock on Saturday. The Ian Balding-trained colt gave Olivier Peslier a difficult ride in the Vodafone Derby, bolting on his way to the start and proving difficult to steer during the race before finishing a tailed-off last of 15 runners behind Sinndar. Balding has booked Kevin Darley to ride the colt in the Listed contest and said: "He seems in pretty good form. "There were no ill-effects after the Derby and we have given him a quite a rest." Other notable entries for the race include Geoff Wragg's Derby seventh St Expedit. Darley will also ride Balding's Rada's Daughter in the £50,000 Letheby & Christopher Old Newton Cup. A total of 27 horses have been entered for the prestigious handicap including Celestial Welcome, a 16-1 winner of the race last year for trainer Mary Reveley. The feature race at the Merseyside course is the Unigate Foodservice Lancashire Oaks. The 17 entries include the Michael Jarvis-trained Ela Athena, second to Ramruma in last year's Yorkshire Oaks, who also holds an entry in the Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown the same afternoon. The Queen's Interlude, an unlucky third to Miletrian in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot on her seasonal debut, is also a possible runner.
