Death of Lord Carnarvon

Lord Carnarvon, racing manager to The Queen, has died of a heart attack, it was revealed today.

Carnarvon was also a renowned owner in his own right with such stars as flying filly Lyric Fantasy, who won the 1992 Nunthorpe Stakes at York as a two-year-old.

He also owned Niche, who landed the Lowther Stakes in 1992 and the Nell Gwyn and the Falmouth Stakes the following year, but was tragically killed in a accident when breaking loose and being hit by a van.

Carnarvon, who has horses in training with Richard Hannon, Roger Charlton, Sir Michael Stoute and Paul Webber, passed away last night.
