Derby course starts to dry out Officials at Epsom are keeping a close eye on the weather before deciding whether to water the course ahead of the Vodafone Derby meeting which starts on Friday. 'The track has dried out over the weekend and the ground is now good,' said clerk of the course Andrew Cooper. 'Going into the weekend we were good, good to soft in places. 'As far as watering is concerned we are going to take each day as it comes. There is the possibility of thundery showers overnight so we`ll see what happens tonight. 'We haven`t had to do any watering since we raced at the spring meeting at the end of April. 'We`ve just got to be mindful of the fact that it doesn`t want to get too quick this end of the week and then we are left relying on rain on Thursday to sweeten things up. 'But one thing I am confident of is that if we have to do any watering then it won`t have to be a lot.'
