Destination out of Dewhurst

Champions Day at Newmarket lost one of its star attractions today when Dubai Destination was ruled out of the Group One Darley Dewhurst Stakes.

A 'slight training setback' means Godolphin`s exciting colt will not be able to take his chance in Europe`s most prestigious two-year-old contest on Saturday.

The David Loder-trained juvenile is 4-1 favourite for next year`s Sagitta 2000 Guineas with William Hill, having scored an impressive win in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster last month.

He had been due to cross swords again on Saturday with the Town Moor runner-up Rock Of Gibraltar - who was giving him 4lb that day and has since scored impressively in Group One company in France.

But a statement on the Godolphin website www.godolphin.com said: 'Dubai Destination will miss the Group One Darley Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday following a slight training set back.

'He will not race again this year and will now be shipped to Dubai for the winter.'

Aidan O`Brien isresponsible for four of the eight runners in the Dewhurst after today`s final declarations.

Coventry Stakes victor Landseer, Rock Of Gibraltar, easy winner of the Grand Criterium at Longchamp last time and likely favourite, Shah Jehan and Tendulkar will represent the master of Ballydoyle in the seven-furlong Group One contest.

The four runners for the home team are Sir Michael Stoute`s Acomb Stakes victor Comfy, the Mick Channon-trained Parasol, Nick Littmoden`s Prince Tulum and Where Or When from Terry Mills` Epsom yard, who landed the Somerville Tattersalls Stakes over the Dewhurst course and distance last time out.
