Directa King Improvement Enquiry The Stewards enquired into the apparent improvement in form of the winner of the third race on Wednesday, Directa King (GER), trained by Mr. D.K. Weld. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who stated that he purchased this animal in Germany and he arrived in his yard sometime in May. He felt he ran extremely well the last day at the Curragh over one mile and six furlongs, leading in the straight and looked the winner two furlongs down but faded over the last furlong. Today's trip of one mile four furlongs appears to be his ideal distance. Evidence was also heard from Mr. Mark Bird, Irish Turf Club Handicapper. Having considered the evidence the Stewards accepted Mr. Weld's explanations.
