Dom Connections Targeting Trophy Success

Connections of Dom D'Orgeval hope top-weight Al Eile runs in Saturday's totesport Trophy Hurdle at Newbury so their horse can take his chance off 10st.

A 4lb-penalty for a recent Lingfield success puts the six-year-old, trained by Nick Williams, on the minimum weight for the #125,000 contest for which several will be out of the handicap should Al Eile stand his ground.

'Obviously it helps us if the top weight runs and he's in really good form,' said Williams' wife Jane, who owns the gelding.

'He is flying. We would have preferred a little rain but he has won on good to firm so it's not going to inconvenience him too much. Paddy Brennan rides him and he knows him really well.

'Our big problem is getting him to the racecourse in one piece. He does really stupid things. He can be a bit wild, but he is a very special horse and just wants to get on with the job.

'He tends to do silly things at home a bit. He'll jump things he shouldn't jump and try to escape.

'We bought him as a foal so we've had him a long time.

'I've taken him to shows, taken him hunting, been on sponsored rides, cross-country courses and I use him as my hack. He's a fantastic horse to ride and he's got every right to be there on Saturday.'

Dom D'Orgeval is 20-1 with the sponsors.
