Drever Limbers Up For Newbury

Ladbrokes World Hurdle winner Inglis Drever warmed up for next Saturday´s Long Distance Hurdle with a workout after racing at Haydock.

Howard Johnson´s eight-year-old has won the Newbury feature for the last two years and covered two circuits in the hands of Denis O´Regan alongside Hennessy entry Hard Act To Follow and Mephisto.

'What with the ground being so heavy it was only a little canter,' reported owner Graham Wylie.

'But Denis said it went fine and it will hopefully have him ready for the weekend.

'We can´t tell too much from that but he´s been ready for three or four weeks.'

Inglis Drever beat Mighty Man at Cheltenham in March to land his second stayers´ crown but has been off the track since finishing third to that rival at Aintree in April.

Hard Act To Follow has been sidelined since winning at Wetherby in October 2006 but could still line up in the Hennessy.

Wylie added: 'We´ll see how he comes out of this and take it from there, but he´s a possible.'
