Ebor On Eile Agenda John Queally has ruled Al Eile out of this weekend's Shergar Cup meeting at Ascot. The smart dual-purpose performer held an entry in the Carvil Shergar Cup Stayers race, but Queally will instead prime his stable star for a tilt at the totesport Ebor at York on August 22.After a fine run to finish fourth in the Northumberland Plate, Al Eile reverted to hurdles to finish third at Tipperary, where the heavy ground was against him.'We haven't done much with him since his last race, we've just tried to freshen him up and we'll do a few bits of work with him in the next 10 days or so,' said Queally.'We are not going to take him to Ascot and we'll aim for the Ebor if he's well in himself. You wouldn't know how much that race at Newcastle had taken out of him but he'll let us know.'It looks a tough race this year when you see Aidan (O'Brien) with a handful of entries and Godolphin with a good chance (Scriptwriter).'I suppose he is certainly entitled to line up if we are happy with him and he has been left on the same mark since Newcastle.'He hasn't run a bad race for me on the Flat ever, and he has run in some good races.'The ground is key though ? he won the Champion Hurdle Trial at Haydock on heavy but it wasn't much of a race, his class saw him home. He is much better on nicer ground.'He wouldn't want it firm either though and if it continues to dry up he wouldn't run on firm.'(C) PA Sport
