Egan set for long suspension Irish jockey John Egan was today suspended for two months by the Hong Kong Jockey Club after being found guilty of misleading the stewards.Egan had a highly successful first season in Hong Kong - finishing fourth in the jockeys` table - and has ridden 12 winners in the current campaign. The suspension, which starts after Wednesday night`s meeting at Happy Valley and lasts until April 1st, concerned evidence given by Egan after the disappointing running of Jade Ruyi, who started favourite but finished last in a race at Happy Valley on January 9th.At the time stewards took evidence from Egan and Jade Ruyi`s trainer Peter Ho before taking further evidence from the jockey at Sha Tin on January 12th. Egan was summoned to appear before the stewards at their Happy Valley headquarters again today where he was found guilty of 11 counts of misleading the stewards. A Hong Kong Jockey Club statement said that Egan`s evidence 'was not in accordance with the facts and calculated to mislead the stewards'.The former successful British-based freelance rider has until midday on Wednesday to launch an appeal.
