ENDLESS HALL SURPRISES

Luca Cumani, the Newmarket trainer who has lost the patronage of the Aga Khan, sent out Endless Hall to land a shock success in the group one Gran Premio di Milano today.

Endless Hall had shown decent form in Italy last year, but he was hard to fancy on the strength of two previously unplaced efforts at the northern Italian track this year.

The four-year-old found the faster ground this time much more to his liking and made all the running under Fernando Jovine.

Jovine gradually increased the tempo and Endless Hall gave his rivals no chance by quickening to finish five and a half lengths clear of second-placed German filly Catella.

Cumani said: 'Jovine rode an excellent race and I was confident that Endless Hall had never been better. He doesn't like heavy ground and that explains why he ran below form on his two previous runs this year.'

France's Spendent was beaten nine and a half lengths into third place, with Germany's Caitano a bitter disappointment in fourth spot. -PA
