Fallon Enjoys French Trip

Kieren Fallon enjoyed a triumphant return to France as he punched home the Jean-Marie Beguigne-trained Spirito Del Vento in the Prix du Chemin de Fer du Nord at Chantilly .

The six-times champion was having his first ride across the Channel since ending a six-month ban after testing positive for a metabolite of a prohibited substance last year.

After settling behind the early pacesetters, Spirito Del Vento arrived on the scene travelling strongly approaching the final furlong.

When asked to put his seal on the race, Fallon´s mount produced an impressive response to readily put some daylight between himself and runner-up Multiplex.

Passager, third last time in the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury, had to settle for the same position here after tiring late on.

Fallon said: 'They went quick early on and it was pretty hard to keep up with them.

'However, he picked up really well in the last couple of furlongs. I still think he would be better on softer going.

'This is my first ride back in France and it is really exciting to win.'
