Fitzgerald recovering well but facing more surgery Jockey Mick Fitzgerald, injured in a fall in the Aintree Grand National in April, made his first appearance on a racecourse yesterday, on his long road to recovery. Fitzgerald, has undergone two major operations on his neck and revealed that he faces more surgery on his more troublesome knee, which will hamper any thoughts of a return to the saddle until at least October. Speaking at Newton Abbot yesterday where he appeared as a guest analyst on At The Races, Fitzgerald reported "after the operations, it is going to take a minimum of four months of rehab. It is important to get that right before I think about anything else."
