Flight On Course For Aston

Day Flight could return to action at Newbury on Saturday for the first time since June.

The six-year-old is set to reappear in the paddypower.com Stakes (registered as the Aston Park Stakes), a Listed race over an extended mile and five furlongs.

Not seen since finishing fourth in the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot, John Gosden´s charge met with a slight setback which cost him the chance of bidding for back-to-back victories in the Blue Square Ormonde Stakes at Chester last week.

'Day Flight is fine and he will probably run in the Aston Park at Newbury on Saturday,' said Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Khalid Abdullah.

'It was just that his bloods were a little off, that´s why we held him back. It´s the plan to run on Saturday.'

The son of Sadler´s Wells has been restricted to just 13 starts, winning seven times and amassing #270,000 in prize money.
