George On Target For Return

Aidan O'Brien reports George Washington to be in fine form as he prepares to make his eagerly-awaited comeback in Sunday's totesport Celebration Mile at Goodwood.

The brilliant 2000 Guineas winner has not been seen since injuring his hip when finishing second behind Araafa in the Irish equivalent at the Curragh in May.

However, O'Brien has confirmed the Danehill colt to be on target for a return in the Group Two feature.

'He's in good form and it's a case of so far so good,' he told At The Races.

'He's got a couple more pieces of work to be done this week but it's so far so good.

'He is ready for a race next weekend and we are just hoping that he comes back safe.

'He has two more bits of work to be done this week and if he comes through them OK, he should run on Sunday.'
