Getaway possible for King George

Getaway could bid to make amends for his disappointing run in the Coronation Cup last week in the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot.

Andre Fabre´s five-year-old did not handle the Epsom undulations when fourth to Soldier Of Fortune on Friday.

"Of course we were disappointed. We would be lying if we said any different, but that´s racing," said Paul Harley, racing manager to owner Baron Georg Von Ullmann.

"To be fair, without making too many excuses, we felt he didn´t handle the track that well, but I don´t want to take anything away from the first two, they are very good horses.

"We´ll have to see what happens when we meet them again.

"We haven´t given up yet. Let´s get on another level playing field and see what the result will be next time or the time after.

"Royal Ascot is out. All being well it will either be the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud at the end of the month or the King George. He won´t take in both of them."

Getaway, winner of the Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket last month on his seasonal debut, was fourth in the Prix de l´Arc de Triomphe last October and the Longchamp showpiece is again the long-term target.

"The Arc is all go with the him in the autumn and we don´t want him to have many hard races in the early part of the year," Harley told At The Races.
