Wathnan Racing have added to their powerful string in purchasing the promising Owen Burrows-trained colt Gethin.

After winning two novices by wide margins 184 days apart, the Ghaiyyath grey was then second twice at Listed level.

He returned to action this season in winning form when taking the Magnolia Stakes at Kempton on what will be a final run for Martin and Lee Taylor, with Wathnan now taking over ownership of the horse.

“We’ve admired Gethin from afar ever since he made an impressive debut at Nottingham at two,” said Richard Brown of Wathnan Racing.

“He’s got great form around some serious horses at three and showed his well-being when winning impressively at Kempton a few weeks ago.

“He’s got any amount of potential, and is a great credit to his breeders, Martin and Lee Taylor, who’ve been a pleasure to deal with.

“We’re thrilled he’ll be running in the old gold and peacock blue. He’s a really exciting colt and we’re sure the Wathnan team will love racing him.”

Gethin is to stay with Burrows.
