Griffin Number 1 at Great Leighs Eoin Griffin became the first Irish trainer to saddle a winner at Great Leighs when Weybridge Light took the Juniper Handicap under Jamie Spencer last evening. The 5/2 chance beat Eureka Moment by a length after leading two furlongs out and hanging right. Of course Great Leighs became the first new racecourse in Great Britain since 1927 when it began action on the 20th of April this year. It would have only played host to a handful of Irish raiders since it's inception. Michael Grassick was also on the mark cross-channel, when Laurel Creek scored at Wolverhampton on Wednesday night. The well-backed favourite was steered to a comfortable win in the Stay At The Wolverhampton Holiday Inn Handicap by Eddie Ahern. (EM)
