Hereford and Kelso off

Waterlogged tracks have forced the abandonment of this afternoon`s National Hunt meetings in Britain at Hereford and Kelso.

Officials inspected the Hereford track this morning after more than 9mm of rain fell since 4pm Thursday afternoon.

'It`s off I`m afraid,' said clerk of the course Jason Loosemore. 'It`s waterlogged and unfit for racing. It`s still raining now and the forecast is for further rain throughout the day.'

Kelso was called off soon after.

The decision was made after a further 6mm of rain fell overnight on ground already described as heavy.

'We`re off,' said clerk of the course Jonnie Fenwicke-Clennell. 'It`s still raining now and the track is waterlogged in places.'

The all-weather meeting at Wolverhampton is the only one to remain.
