HRI post for Jason Morris Jason Morris has been made Director of Racing for Horse Racing Ireland. Morris, the son of the well know zoologist Desmond Morris, has been manager of the Curragh racecourse for the last two years but his new job will involve responsibility for fixtures and programmes, race planning and the supervision of capital development programmes.The HRI chief executive, Brian Kavanagh, said: 'He brings a wealth of experience to the position having spent more than seven years as a senior executive in race planning with the British Horseracing Board and as secretary of the European pattern race committee.'The Turf Club was also busy making new appointments yesterday with Mark Bird becoming the new assistant flat handicapper.Joan Taylor from Cork has been appointed Veterinary Officer having worked for the Turf Club on a part time basis since 1997. Barry Langan takes over from Bill McLernon, who retires in December, as Inspector of Courses.The new car parking arrangmentsfor Leopardstown, brought about by the extension of the M50, starts tomorrow. Cars approaching from the Ballyogan Road will now be directed to the Glencairn Lands which ajoin the Ballyogan car park. It will mean an extra 200 to 300 metre walk for patrons.
