Impact Set For Stud Career Deep Impact is to be retired to stud at the end of the year in a syndication deal worth almost 34 million.Following the four-year-old's close third in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp, connections had initially suggested they were keen to return for another crack at the 12-furlong event in 2007.However, they yesterday declared that their charge will take up his stud duties at the Yoshida family's Shadai Stallion Station at the end of the current campaign.Isao Okano, chief executive of the Japan Racing Association's Office in Paris said: 'Deep Impact will be standing at stud next season, so won't be coming back to France for a second attempt to win the Arc de Triomphe.'His value will be nearly 34 million, as there will be 60 shares each costing 560,000.'The colt has come back from France in very good shape and he is now based in Tokyo,' he told the Racing Post. While the news of Deep Impact's imminent retirement will come as a blow to his legions of supporters, they are likely to have the chance to see him compete at least once more.'Although nothing has been finally decided, Deep Impact's programme until the end of year could take in the Tenno Sho (October 29), the Japan Cup (November 26) and he may finish his career with a run in the Arima Kinen (December 24),' Okano outlined.(C) PA Sport
