Ink Pencilled In For Matron Bid

Runaway Coronation Stakes winner Indian Ink will make her eagerly anticipated return to action in Saturday's Coolmore Fusaichi Pegasus Matron Stakes at Leopardstown.

Richard Hannon's filly could be joined by a stellar British raiding party including last year's scorer Red Evie, Sweet Lilly and the Celebration Mile winner Echelon, who was the sole supplementary entry among the 17-strong field at the five-day stage.

Indian Ink, who bolted up by six lengths in the Coronation at Royal Ascot, has not been seen since and although her two successes at Group One level ? the other was in the Cheveley Park Stakes ? were on softish ground, connections believe she is more adaptable.

Hannon's son and assistant Richard junior reported: 'She's in great order and the plan is to run on Saturday. She worked fantastically on Sunday morning and looks very, very well.

'A lot has been made about the ground for her, but as long as it is good, that will be fine.

'She does go on any ground, it's just that heavy ground slows down the others more than it helps her. Ascot certainly made her look good, but there are not many bad winners of the Cheveley Park either.'
