Ireland Or Doncaster For Allegretto

Connections of Allegretto have yet to settle on a target for the Goodwood Cup winner.

The four-year-old dropped back to a mile and a half to chase home Peeping Fawn in the Yorkshire Oaks last time out and could run in either the Irish Field St Leger on Saturday week or the Doncaster Cup the day before.

'A decision has yet to be made,' reported Chris Richardson, managing director of owners Cheveley Park Stud.

'We are obviously looking at the various options and I think it will depend on the opposition in Ireland.

'The Doncaster Cup is another serious consideration so it's between those two.

'Mr and Mrs Thompson (stud owners) are away at the moment so we will see what Sir Michael (Stoute, trainer) feels nearer the time.'

Queen's Best could also head to Ireland, with the Blandford Stakes on the agenda for the recent Windsor winner.

'She's one of those fillies that keeps improving from a progressive family,' Richardson told At The Races.

'We have been fortunate to win the Blandford with Chorist and Red Bloom won it twice.

'It is the intention to go there and she certainly looks a progressive filly.'
