Jockey breaks neck in fall

Former New Zealand jump jockey Ken Browne is fighting for his life after breaking his neck in a fall last night.

The 67-year-old, regarded as the 'father of jumps racing in New Zealand', is on a life support machine and the New Zealand Herald reports he had to be resuscitated more than once.

Browne was found unconscious yesterday at his property in Cambridge when a young horse he was training returned riderless.

His wife Ann said the horse had 'nose-dived and he did too.'
