Johnston reaches ton again

Mark Johnston today capped another highly successful campaign as he became the first trainer this Flat season to reach 100 winners in Britain.

He completed his century when Classic hope Fight Your Corner quickened smartly in the straight to lift the Tom McGee Autumn Stakes at Ascot by five lengths under Kevin Darley.

He missed the latest landmark as he was saddling runners at York, from where he said: 'I am pleased we have done it again, it gets harder I suppose, but we had 139 last season so I suppose the 100 was easy then in a way.

'I worry more about getting the 100 now because we want to be the most consistent stable in the country.

'Someone told me that Henry Cecil had nine centuries in a row and we would like to beat that - this is eight in a row for us.

'But I would like to keep improving the quality of the horses, though if you upgrade then you have fewer handicappers, which we do well with.'
