Katchit Ready For Acid Test

Katchit, the leading British hope for Champion Hurdle honours in March, is on course to face his biggest test yet at Newcastle on Saturday week.

The prolific Alan King-trained four-year-old has won eight of his nine starts over timber and made a successful reappearance when scoring at Aintree last month.

He is set to clash with some big names in the WBX.COM-sponsored ?Fighting Fifth' Hurdle, and King is happy with his progress so far.

'If the ground stayed as it is at the minute, good to soft, that would be perfect,' King told At The Races.

'We will learn an awful lot about him next week as it will be his first time in against his elders, it will tell us whether we are have a Champion Hurdle horse or not.

'It is a huge step up once they get outside their own age group, I think we are all aware of that, but we'll see what happens next week.'
