Katiyra possible for Derby Trial Katiyra could test her Classic credentials by taking on the boys in the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown on Sunday. John Oxx´s filly has been off the track since August but holds entries in a host of top-class events later in the season and is now ready to test the water. Oxx said: "She beat a filly of Jim Bolger´s called Toirneach on her only start last season and had a setback after that run. "She gave a few coughs and then had another setback over Christmas, which meant she didn´t have her first canter until March. "It´s been a bit of a rush to get her ready and she´s entered on Sunday in the Derrinstown Derby Trial and the 1000 Guineas Trial. "We could also wait for the Blue Wind so she has three chances to run. "The Derrinstown is a nice race and there is no reason why she can´t run against the colts. I did it with a horse called Ebadiyla and while she didn´t win at Epsom, she did win the Irish Oaks. "This horse didn´t run again last season and after her setbacks we need to put the gun to her head and see if she´s good enough." One Oxx-trained three-year-old who must take things altogether easier for the time being is Kargali, who met with a setback on the gallops recently. "He had a good start to the year when he won nicely and he worked well last week but something caught his eye when he pulled up, causing him to jink," Oxx added. "He´s pulled a muscle doing that and is quite sore - if he was a footballer you´d say he has a groin injury. "That caused him to miss the Tetrarch on Monday and we´re having to take it easy with him at the moment. "He goes well on soft ground and could trouble a good horse on it, but I´m not sure if he could do it on good or faster."
