Kentucky Oaks favourite put down

Tempera, Godolphin`s champion filly who was shipped to the United States last week from Dubai, was put down yesterday after falling ill.

Tempera, the winner of last year`s Breeders` Cup Juvenile Fillies race in New York, was put down at the Hagyard-Davidson-McGee equine clinic in Lexington after developing complications from a fever first noticed on Friday, the Thoroughbred Times reported.

Tempera had been expected to be one of the favourites for Friday`s Kentucky Oaks, a race for three-year-old fillies run the day before the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville.
