Trainer Tom Taaffe announced at Cork this afternoon that Kicking King has strained his left fore tendon and will miss the 2006 Cheltenham Gold Cup.

The decision was taken by Taaffe and owner Conor Clarkson following a veterinary scan taken this morning while Betfair was immediately informed of the news.

Taaffe added 'we are obviously disappointed but equally delighted with the horse´s good performances this season.'
