Knight Mulls Demon Target

Henrietta Knight has the option of two Ascot assignments in February for Racing Demon.

This season's Peterborough Chase winner could run in the Commercial First Ascot Chase, in which Kauto Star is expected to feature, or revert back to timber on the same card.

'He's very well and will be going to Ascot, although what race I'm not entirely sure yet,' reported Knight.

'He will either run in the chase, but I'm not sure I want to face the big boys again, or go back to hurdles there on the same day.'

Racing Demon, fourth in the King George VI Chase on St Stephen's Day, is a best-priced 20-1 with Boylesports and Coral to land the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

Knight also has Cheltenham aspirations for Calgary Bay, who finished third in the Tolworth on ground that was softer than ideal.

'He's been having a bit of a holiday but we might give him one more run in mid-February,' said the West Lockinge handler.

'That might just get him into the groove before we think about Cheltenham.'

Calgary Bay is available at 25-1 with a number of firms for the Anglo Irish Bank Supreme Novices' Hurdle in March.
