Knight Ready For Epsom Test

Blythe Knight bids to add a Group Three contest at Epsom on Saturday to his impressive list of achievements.

As well as winning the 2006 Lincoln Handicap and a valuable handicap at York recently, the seven-year-old chalked up a notable victory in a Grade Two hurdles event at Aintree in April.

Now he has the chance of a Pattern success in the Vodafone Diomed Stakes.

Blythe Knight faces just four rivals ? the toughest on paper being Blue Ksar, trained by Saeed bin Suroor.

'He´s got a chance. Saeed´s horse is rated 115 but would he win a handicap off that mark? Obviously he´s the one we all have to beat but my lad is in good form,' said trainer John Quinn.

'He warrants his chance in there. He´s in good nick and I would hope he would run well. He won´t mind the dig in the ground and I´m pleased with him.'

The Malton trainer sends a strong team to the two-day fixture, starting with Kings Quay in the Vodafone Rose Bowl on Friday.

Should he come out of that 10-furlong heritage handicap in good shape, he could turn out again on Saturday in the Vodafone Live! Music Stakes.

Quinn continued: 'He ran well when fourth in it last year and if he does run well this time he might turn out again on Saturday.'

The trainer also has Swinton Hurdle winner Leslingtaylor in Saturday´s mile-and-a half Vodafone Live! Music Stakes.

'He was in good form over the winter and won the Swinton.

'Last back-end he won three of his last five races on the Flat and the form of his York win looks decent.

'He´s in good form and I would hope he´d run well,' he added.
