Manduro Camp Favouring Prince Option

High-class five-year-old Manduro is likely to tackle the Prince Of Wales´s Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 20.

Andre Fabre´s entire ran a string of good races in Group One events last season, including when third to Ouija Board in the 10-furlong showpiece, and scored his first success at the highest level in the Prix d´Ispahan last month.

Plans are yet to be set in stone, but Fabre is leaning towards the aforementioned contest rather than the one-mile Queen Anne Stakes, in which Manduro also holds an entry.

'Manduro will be my only runner at Royal Ascot, unless I make any last-minute supplements, and at the moment there is a slight preference for the Prince Of Wales´s Stakes,' Fabre said.

'He´s also in the Queen Anne Stakes over a mile and I need to talk to his owner before finalising a target, but the longer race is my preference.'

While Fabre is looking forward to unleashing Manduro at the Royal meeting, he also reported the highly-regarded Visindar has been retired after suffering a recurrence of a tendon injury.

Sent off favourite for the 2006 Vodafone Derby, in which he finished fifth to Sir Percy, the Sinndar colt has only graced the racecourse on one occasion since.

Fabre told the Racing Post: 'It´s very disappointing, as he was such a high-class horse.'

Pat Downes, racing manager to owner the Aga Khan, added: 'We were hoping he could re-establish himself and run in some of the top races this season, but his tendon injury has recurred.

'We don´t know yet where he will stand as a stallion.'
