Marauder behind schedule Richard Guest today admitted that Martell Grand National Red Marauder is 'a long way behind' schedule in his build-up to this year`s race.He is resigned to the gelding`s going straight to Aintree in April without a proper race, and is hoping to find a charity contest for the 12-year-old to use as a stepping-stone.'Red Marauder got held up and though he is cantering away he is a long way behind,' said Guest, who is assistant as well as stable-jockey to owner/trainer Norman Mason.'It is very hard to go straight to the National without a run but it is looking that way. We are struggling to find a competitive race for him as he needs to have a month off after a race as he needs to be fresh to be at his best.'We may look for a charity race for him.'
