McCoy set to resume record chase

Tony McCoy is set to resume his bid to ride the one winner he needs to register the fastest-ever 200 winners in a season at Huntingdon today.

The champion jockey has to pass the course doctor at the Cambridgeshire track after giving up his last two rides at Wincanton yesterday because of a muscle strain in his neck.

And that was a direct result of three falls he had at Newbury on Wednesday which left him battered and bruised and nursing stitches in a wound at the back of his head.

But his agent Dave Roberts said this morning: 'He`s okay and will be riding today.'

The six-times champion has had eight losers since powering to 199 with a double at Hereford on Tuesday and has five chances of reaching another landmark today.

His fastest 200 came on February 18 in the 1999-2000 season and is ultimate aim is to break Sir Gordon Richards` record of 269 victories in a season.
